matt and kim.

September 14, 2009

Last Friday, I went to see Matt & Kim, with Amanda Blank opening. It was a later show, and I went to a dance lesson put on by UW Ballroom Dance Club (UWMBDA) beforehand. Not the best idea I’ve ever had, as my feet were already a bit tired to start. To my surprise, the Majestic was packed. And, after learning from my past mistakes, I did not even attempt to be in the crowd.

Amanda Blank’s DJs started the show. I’ve never really watched anyone DJ before, and it was interesting. They seem to be doing so much, and yet, I have no idea what exactly they’re doing at all. But I think they did a good job getting the show started. Amanda Blank was a good opener. I had listened to a couple of her songs; it took me a while to like it and I wasn’t really sure what to expect. But she was fun and very showy (costumes and ridiculous dancing).

Matt and Kim also surprised me. To be honest, I went to the concert because I like their song Daylight and it was $10 show. Turns out, they have an unbelievable amount of energy and enthusiasm. Even more so than in the Daylight music video. And they’re funny and happy. Plus, the crowd was so into it. Lots of jumping, lots of crowd surfing – which made me very glad I was not super close to the stage.
