friendsgiving

November 20, 2011

Thanksgiving is always a family affair. But it’s nice to do some celebrating with friends as well. However, making a full turkey is, sadly, a bit beyond the cooking skills of most 20-somethings. Or at least beyond my cooking skills. So instead, this is the perfect plan B. Turkey burgers that taste like all of Thanksgiving stuffed into a handheld dinner.

Thanksgiving Burgers

  • 1 lb ground turkey (93% lean)
  • 5 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp poultry seasoning
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 yellow onion/1 stalk celery, diced
  • muenster cheese
  • white burger buns
  • cranberry sauce mayo (mix canned cranberry sauce and mayo until you think it looks good)
  • romaine lettuce

Melt butter in saucepan over medium heat.  Add spices.  Lightly saute onion and celery in butter (2 mins).  Remove from heat and cool slightly.  Place turkey in  mixing bowl and spoon in veggies (reserve 1.5 tbsp butter mixture for buns).  Mix turkey and veggies to form 5-6 patties.  Cook on preheated grill, 4 mins on each side.  At end, melt on muenster.  Brush buns w/reserved butter and lightly toast. Assemble burger on bun, adding cran mayo and lettuce.

It’s perfect and easy!

  1. I think butter on almost anything would make a perfect Thanksgiving meal. 🙂
